RECREATIONAL PROGRAM
For dancers aged 1.5 and up! Classes in creative movement, tumbling, ballet, jazz, acro jazz, tap, hip-hop, contemporary and musical theatre. Choose to sign up for the full year (September to May) or for sessions (September to December or January to May) All yearly classes and some spring mini sessions will perform on stage in the year-end show!
PRE-COMPETITIVE PROGRAM
Our pre-competitive program is a great option for dancers who are looking for more of a challenge and commitment than our recreational program, but either can’t commit the time required or are not technically ready for the full competitive program.
Pre-competitive dancers train between 3-5 hours per week in ballet, jazz and jazz technique and can add extra classes if desired. These dancers will compete in a least 2 local competitions in the Spring, as well as our year-end performance.
Ages and levels vary from year to year based on interest.
COMPETITIVE PROGRAM
If you are a serious, dedicated dancer 10 years or older, you can choose to audition for our competitive team. Dancers train between 5-14 hours per week, depending on age and level. Mandatory classes are ballet, jazz, jazz technique, and stretch & strength with optional additional classes in tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, musical theatre and tumbling. Our regular competitive team competes in at least two local competitions and one out-of-town competition in the spring, and dancers are also given opportunities to perform in our community. Additional travel opportunities may be available, whether to Vancouver for a weekend workshop, to California to train and perform in Disneyland or to New York to attend the American Academy of Ballet’s Summer School of Excellence! Auditions for our competitive program are in June, and our mandatory Summer Intensive Camp for competitive dancers is the last week of the summer. American Academy of Ballet Performance Award Exams are available to competitive dancers, as well as solos, duets and additional small groups by invitation.
TUMBLING PROGRAM
Tumbling is a form of gymnastics performed on the floor and does not include bars and vaults etc. Athletes will use different types of mats, blocks, spring boards, low beams etc. and will work on skills such as balancing, rolls, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, walkovers and handsprings. Just like gymnastics, tumbling will help your child develop strength, flexibility, momentum and stability. These classes will be offered in 2 sessions: September to December and January to May.
