Kettle Valley Steam Railway Experiences + Private Events

Experience the romance of a bygone era at the Kettle Valley Steam Railway in the beautiful and bountiful Okanagan Valley. Your 90 minute journey takes you along the only preserved section of the historic Kettle Valley Railway built during 1910 – 1915.

Our restored steam locomotive No. 3716 rolls through picturesque Prairie Valley dotted with orchards, vineyards and fields of green and then onto the Trout Creek Bridge with a stunning view of Okanagan Lake and the canyon below. Lively music and historical commentary complete your railway adventure.

We invite you to join us on the only preserved section of this historic railway: Ten miles of beautiful vistas; from lush orchards and vineyards to a spectacular view of lake and land from the Trout Creek Bridge 238 ft above the canyon floor. The sight and sound of our restored 1912 Steam Locomotive the “3716” will bring the era alive as you ride along on this 90 minute journey in a vintage passenger coach or open air car.

The Kettle Valley Steam Railways offers family friendly events year round such as: mothers day train rides, great train robbery & BBQ, Halloween events, Christmas express and the option to host private events as well. 

BIRTHDAYS + PRIVATE EVENTS

Celebrate your special event aboard the Kettle Valley Steam Railway! Our train is the perfect venue for your next event. We have many booking options for a private chartered event. When you book a private train ride, this includes the use of the large covered seating area for your party.

We are happy to accommodate you to make your dream event a reality. We will work with you to offer food, reserved tables and private seating. The charter event includes the use of our picnic pavilion, washroom facilities and an on-site supervisor for the duration of your event.

PRESCHOOL & SCHOOL PROGRAMS

A trip on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway is like participating in a “living history lesson”. Many children have never experienced a ride on a train. There are not very many railways left – let alone that offer a genuine steam locomotive experience.

We love to host youth educational programs and to help bring history alive for our younger generation. We host a variety of age groups – from preschool to senior secondary. Our onboard commentary takes students through the rise and fall of the Kettle Valley Railway and describes the great impact the railroad had on the economy and development of the southern interior of BC.  A ride on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway is a wonderful addition to learning about Canadian history.
