This fall, the OK Kids team had the pleasure of joining some Music and Movement classes, and we were absolutely delighted! Teacher Crystal creates a welcoming and inspiring environment where young children, from babies up to seven-year-olds, get to experience the magic of music. Using a blend of Orff, Eurhythmics, and Solfege methods, each class is thoughtfully designed to capture kids’ imaginations and keep them engaged.
What really stood out is how Crystal weaves in new themes and learning opportunities each week. From exploring the seasons to celebrating holidays, every session feels fresh and perfectly suited to children’s interests. Through group singing, movement, instrument play, and fun musical games, kids learn the building blocks of music—pitch, rhythm, tempo, and more—while building confidence and a lifelong love for music.
With classes available in three semesters throughout the year (plus summer programs!), this program is a wonderful way to nurture creativity and self-expression in young children.
In addition to the musical foundations Crystal introduces, each lesson emphasizes creative expression and teamwork. Children don’t just learn music—they feel it, move to it, and see it as a form of storytelling that’s deeply connected to their world. This approach keeps them motivated and excited about each class, as they get to collaborate with friends and explore new concepts through hands-on activities like singing, dancing, and playing instruments. Crystal’s warm and encouraging teaching style makes all kids feel welcome and comfortable, helping them express themselves in new and exciting ways.
Parents are also invited to be part of this journey. For baby, toddler, and family classes, parent participation makes it a memorable bonding experience, while non-parent participation options for older children allow kids to grow their independence. For those programs, parents are welcome to join the last few minutes of each class to get a peek at what their children have been learning. Each child receives a notebook that fills up with songs, exercises, and creative projects over the year—a beautiful keepsake that tracks their musical journey.
Whether you're looking for a fun activity or an early introduction to music education, these classes offer the perfect blend of fun and learning! Winter registration is now open, making it the perfect time to join in the fun and learning!
